There are so many things you might wonder about when it comes to getting involved with Lafayette Theatre! Let's see if we can help answer some of our frequently asked questions!
Who can take Lafayette Theatre classes?
Any student at Lafayette interested in learning more about theatre can take a class! We often see a range of experience levels from students who have never been involved in theatre to people who have worked backstage or worked on shows before! All are welcome in our classes!
If I want to join Boosters or learn more about Lafayette Theatre as a family member, what should I do?
We will have an informational Lafayette Theatre meeting on Tuesday, August 20th from 6-7 in room 120 if you want to learn more information and get involved! If you want to go ahead and join our Boosters organization please follow the link here! lafayettehstheatre.ludus.com/200460539
How does someone find information about Lafayette Theatre events?
We recommend you follow our Instagram account, @lafayette_theatre and/or follow us on Facebook we use these social media platforms along with our website to keep people in the loop about everything going on - from shows to auditions and more! Additionally, our Thespian Troupe has a monthly e-mail newsletter that you can subscribe to on our website. At school, we have a large bulletin board across the hall from room 120 that is updated frequently with audition information, tech applications, show dates, announcements, etc!
Who can audition for shows?
Anyone! The more you audition the more you will learn and grow, we encourage any student interested in being involved in a show to put themselves out there and audition. You do not have to have any prior experience, be enrolled in any specific class, or be in SCAPA.
How does someone apply for technical theatre?
If you are interested in learning more about technical theatre we recommend students take Intro to Technical Theatre - in this class students learn about tool safety, intro to sewing, intro to design, collaboration, etc. Additionally, we take technician applications for each show! Information and sign ups will be posted on the bulletin board across the hall from room 120 at the same time we post information for auditions.
What shows are you all doing this year?
For the 2024-2025 school year our Fall Play will be, "Lily Plants a Garden" auditions will be August 15 and 16 from 3:30 to 5:30. This show will also be our competition piece. Our winter musical will be, "Anastasia." Performances will be in Beeler Auditorium, January 30, 31, and February 1 with auditions held in October. There will be additional class performances and opportunities throughout the year that will be announced later.
